Anthophila 03 — Turning Hours Collection

Six Pigments, Endless Seasons

There is a particular beauty in the turning of the seasons, when the last of hues of russet lingers in the garden and autumn begins to gather in the leaves. The light grows softer, the colors deepen, and familiar things take on a different kind of beauty.

Turning Hours is a collection of six watercolor pigments inspired by this fleeting moment between seasons, the glowing red of orchard fruit, the clear light of a late afternoon sun, the green of turning leaves, the depth of a sapphire dusk, the warmth of weathered earth, and the quiet gray of a passing cloud.

Each color has its own character, yet together they hold a remarkable range of possibilities. Painted at their fullest strength, they unfold into rich, jewel-like tones: glowing reds, luminous yellows, deep blues, and the burnished greens and warm earth tones of autumn. With water and a lighter hand, they soften into delicate pastels, translucent botanical washes, misty skies, and the quietest shades of the changing season.

Six pigments, each with a world of its own, made to be layered, mingled, and rediscovered. A palette for richly colored autumn gardens and dusky landscapes, but equally for pale blossoms, soft cloudy skies, and all the fleeting moments in between.

Like the hours themselves, these colors are always becoming something new.

The Six Pigments

Orchard Ember — A vivid, apple-red hue with the warmth of autumn fruit touched by the last golden light of the afternoon. Rich and glowing, it carries the quiet intensity of a late-season orchard, bringing depth and a lively warmth to the palette. Diluted with water, it softens into delicate rosy washes; layered at its fullest strength, it glows like an ember against the turning leaves.

Sunlit Sorrel — A bright, cool-toned yellow, clear and transparent as sunlight passing through the last golden leaves of autumn.

Turning Leaf — A soft, natural green inspired by leaves in transition, when summer's freshness meets the first quiet warmth of the changing season.

Blue Reliquary — A deep sapphire blue, reminiscent of the sky just before evening, bringing clarity, depth, and a jewel-like richness to the palette.

Fawnlight — A warm, gentle earth tone, recalling dried grasses, woodland paths, and the soft, muted warmth of the forest floor beneath the turning leaves.

Dove's Reverie — A soft, feathered gray, like the hush of an overcast afternoon, lending atmosphere, subtlety, and space for the other colors to breathe.

Together, these six pigments invite a world of experimentation, from glowing, saturated passages to the palest washes of color. Whether you are painting the abundance of autumn or the quiet poetry of a fading light, Turning Hours offers a little world of color to return to, season after season.
