Weekend adventures

A glimpse into my everyday travel art bag. I like to keep it simple and basic with extra room to stuff in bits from nature that I find along trails. It's not unusual for errant rocks, roots and flowers to make their way home with me. I'm still figuring out my art journal practice for this year, and so I am leaving that space open to sketch and am painting soft freeform washes of color and flowers mostly; just allowing that process of paper, water and color to mix and meld in whatever direction that they choose.

Long chains of kelp are flung up on the shores and their floats resemble shiny ornaments nestled in the sand. Minerals and grain in my palette, and sand and grit underfoot. Water mixed with color in the ocean, and watercolor reflected on the page.

Endless possibilities abound.
