An unexpected party

An unexpected party
“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.”  With this sentence, an entirely new world, and a lifelong source of joy and wonder was introduced to me. The Hobbit remains a perennial favorite of mine, you can tell from my battered olde copy that this has been a companion that has accompanied me for many years. My very first copy was a vintage paperback from the 1970s that has long since fallen apart, and this version was its faithful replacement.

For our first day share your favorite book and or story with your family and or loved ones. By reading together in the evenings you can journey together through imagination into familiar and beloved spaces that you hold dear. Tell your family or friends why this book was important to you, and if you do not wish to read the entire story together perhaps share a favorite chapter or passage.

If you journal like me then take this opportunity to write about your favorite book. Perhaps you could illustrate a quote that is meaningful to you, or even watercolor paint part of the landscape scenery, a cherished character, or a small detail that is poignant to you.

Feel free to leave a comment here with some of your favorite books! I would love to see them for new suggestions and recommendations for others. Children’s books, poetry, novels, fantasy, fiction, and non-fiction, are books all welcome.
