:: Clarkia ::
Clarkia is a genus of flowering plants in the evening primrose family, Onagraceae. It includes more than 40 recognized species, most of which are native to western North America.
These plants play a vital role in their ecosystems by supporting native pollinators. In fact, some pollinators depend entirely on Clarkia species for survival—such as a specialized bee commonly referred to as the "Clarkia bee."
A half pan of artist-grade, lightfast watercolor. This watercolor paint has naturally beautiful granulation that can be layered from thick to thin. Each pan is hand poured to exacting traditional recipes and techniques in our studio using the highest quality earth pigments, and natural watercolor binding medium made from distilled water, honey, glycerine, and the sap of acacia trees.
Watercolors for Wildlife
Every Wildthorne watercolor, palette, or piece of jewelry directly funds the creation of solitary bee nests placed in wild and protected habitats across the Pacific Northwest. These nests offer critical refuge for native bees who face increasing habitat loss.
