These are half pan watercolor paints that have slight and sometimes overt rough surface textures, cracks, or who have shrunk due to variances in temperatures. Although their surface appearance may look more rough, this in no way effects the quality and performance of these paints. 

The wabi sabi aesthetic is a traditional Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection. 

** Please note that two of our watercolors (Imperial and Naga) are very intensely saturated paints. These watercolor hues will stain brushes and so we recommend using a separate watercolor brush when painting with these colours if you would like to prevent them from tinting your favorite brush.
