Day 8 Art journal challenge - A favorite quote

“ All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

Time is precious, our most valuable resource in my humble opinion, as the years advance and the end of the year draws nearer I find that journaling helps me to slow down the rapid pace of my life. I can for a moment take some time to actualize on the page and work out my thoughts, creative ideas, emotions, and memories.

By you choosing to spend a little time each day to complete these art journal prompts you are selecting to give back to yourself minutes, perhaps even an hour of reflection, mindfulness, creative focus and self care. All things that are beneficial to your well being, physical and emotional health.

Words can be magical, they are evocative and add color, comfort and meaning as to how we express ourselves and communicate with others. For today’s art journal challenge choose a quote that resonates with you and either illustrate it or collage it in with your art supplies. This can be an opportunity if you’d like to practice lettering or calligraphy, feel free to play with the actual structure and shapes of the letters in your quote.

For my own personal page I used the gradient Indigo backdrop we painted for our Day 5 art journal prompt as a background and layered on top of it some silver stars I had leftover from a birthday party. I added in my favorite quote from Tolkien on top written on a fragment of parchment paper, and also placed on the page a rubber stamp of a hand in distressed tea dye ink, a floral sticker, and some Japanese washi tape.

Remember to add in your positive aspect to your previous journal page today, and also please tag your post shares on Instagram #wildthorneoctober so that I may see them. This also qualifies as your entry into our giveaway at the end of the month for a palette of our artisan watercolors along with a variety of stationery to embellish your own notebook.

I look forward to reading your quotes and seeing how you have chosen to personalize and decorate your pages.
